Wow! I’ve written a grand total of zero posts in nearly three years and haven’t written regularly in almost four. You can read about how it came to be here, but it all boils down to 1 thing: Sea Duty. Long days and many months away left me with little time or energy to write, so I set it aside to concentrate on other things.
The good news, however, is that my sea duty is complete (for the time being), and I once again find time on my hands and the desire (or obligation according to my wife) to write. Therefore, I’ve fired up the old keyboard again and moved the blog to a friendlier platform.
So, what’s happened over the past three years? Quite a bit, I guess. Three different ships, two different jobs, a promotion, over a year away from home, and an impending move across the country (time for some more Adventures of Truman, Sweet Peach, and Footie!). My daughter (Princess) has gone from a beautiful girl to a beautiful young lady almost the same height of my wife (which makes laundry day extremely difficult for me). My son (Little Dude) has gone from a cute, little troublemaker that knows how to push all my buttons to a cute, slightly larger troublemaker that knows how to push all my buttons. Throughout it all, my wife (CINCHouse) has somehow managed to become more gorgeous and amazing.
As I sit here struggling through this post, I’m reminded once again what a perishable skill writing is. While the words used to flow so easily, I almost have to force them out now. Since my original goal was just to practice enough to write the Great American Novel and retire to my own island somewhere in the Caribbean (I like to keep my goals realistic), it’s probably a good thing that I’ve started again.
For the folks out there that used to read along with me every day, I greatly appreciate you stopping by again and hope that the writing is still up to your standards. For all the new visitors, welcome! You can find a short (albeit dated) introduction here and you can always browse the archive if desired. The formats are a little off since I transferred everything over, but I’ll soon remedy that. If you have any questions at all, you can always reach out at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In the meantime, it’s great to see you again!
