As I’m writing this post, our English Pointer is staring at me like I owe her something. That doesn’t really have anything to do with what I’m writing, but it is a little disconcerting.
We had a pretty good week in the Military Family. We decorated the inside of the house which turned out awesome, and we decorated the outside of the house which was an enormous failure. The awesomeness of the houses around us are really starting to make me doubt my holiday spirit. One house assembled a 20 foot tall windmill in their front yard. It looks incredible, but they really have a sense of dedication to this holiday that I can’t match.
Last weekend, we went up to San Juan Capistrano to see a very historic train station. The train station was actually pretty disappointing, but they did have one of the best petting zoos I’ve ever been to, including the fastest goat in the history of goatkind. The mission up there was also amazing to walk around, although the kids did get a little bored with it.
Yesterday, we went to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. We actually like the Safari Park better than the zoo proper. There aren’t as many animals, but you get to see them in a much more natural environment. It’s nowhere near as crowded, and it’s not as stressful. It’s also a closer drive for us which is an added bonus. The highlight of the day was getting to see the Cheetah run. That is one speedy mammal.
As far as this blog goes, I had a huge milestone this week. Friday was the first time since I started Military Dad that I failed to post anything. There was somewhere around 45 straight days of content before the streak was broken. I got up at 4:30 on Friday, and I never really stopped moving. By the time we got the kids to bed, I was too tired to write anything, so I just went to bed at about 8:30.
I was still able to generate some posts that I’m proud of though. If you get a chance, check them out, and as always, thank you for visiting.
I Can See Trouble in the Future – This is an article about one of my biggest fears for the future. Hint: it involves my daughter.
My Chance Meeting with a WWII Veteran – In honor of the anniversary of Pearl Harbor, I shared an experience I had with a WWII Veteran.
My Wife’s New Blog Nickname – It took me awhile, but I was finally able to come up with a blogging handle for my wife.
Toys for Tots – This is an account of my favorite holiday tradition.
I also posted a couple videos and shorter articles. Thank you and have a great day.
